So now as the dust begins to settle on what was a fabulous London 2012 Olympics we can reflect on what was such a great occasion. I was lucky enough to attend and see Bolt win the 100 metres. Sadly tickets were scarce so Anne couldn’t come, though I did see someone who looked like her doing the “Hop, Skip and Jump” or “Triple Jump” to give it its proper title.
For me I think an Olympic medal should have been given to the plantsman and gardeners responsible for the planting around the Olympic Park. The site was an old industrial site centred on the River Lea covering over 240 acres. There are apparently actually four gardens: Europe, Praire, Southern hemisphere and Asian. In future they will be collectively known as the “Queen Elizabeth gardens” I say “apparently” as I was unaware of this as I strolled around the park taking in the exciting variety of plants. I’ve attached a couple of pictures that I took.
